Dear Dog Privacy Policy

Effective 18 September 2026. Dear Dog is an iOS app by Taimoor Hassan (“we”). It helps dog owners notice visible canine body-language signals in a photo or a short clip and offers a careful, evidence-based interpretation. This policy explains what the app handles, what leaves your iPhone, and your choices. There are no accounts, no advertising and no tracking.

What stays on your iPhone

What is sent, and only with your permission

Nothing is uploaded when you take or choose a photo. When you confirm Use this, the selected photo, or up to eight frames from the first five seconds of a clip, is sent through Dear Dog’s service to Google’s Gemini API to check for a dog and explain the visible signals. If you choose to chat about a look, each question sends those same images, the original result, your question and the earlier messages of that conversation. Audio, your dog’s profile, source location metadata and advertising identifiers are never included. Images can still show people or private surroundings, so choose them with care.

Sharing permission is asked once for the disclosed purpose and can be withdrawn at any time in Settings → Privacy & AI sharing → Google sharing. Chat has its own permission. You still confirm each photo or clip before it is sent. If the provider, purpose or terms change, we ask again.

Google’s handling

Dear Dog uses Google’s paid Gemini API. Under Google’s paid-service terms, inputs and responses are not used to improve Google’s products. Google retains abuse-monitoring logs, including inputs and outputs, for 55 days; flagged content may be reviewed by authorised staff and processed by Google’s service providers. Cancelling a look cannot recall content Google has already received. See Google’s API terms and usage policies.

What Dear Dog’s service keeps

Our service (Google Cloud, United States) handles your images and messages only in memory while a request is being answered; it does not store them or the results. To operate subscriptions fairly and securely it keeps:

Subscription records are deleted no later than 90 days after a subscription ends. No IP-address-based profiling, analytics SDKs or advertising identifiers are used.

Subscriptions and payments

Purchases are made through Apple using your Apple Account; Apple handles payment and we never see your payment details. To confirm that a subscription is active, Dear Dog’s service checks its status with Apple’s App Store Server API. Manage, cancel or restore subscriptions through your Apple Account settings or in the app.

Children

Dear Dog is not directed at children under 13, does not offer accounts and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights and choices

You can revoke camera access in iPhone Settings, withdraw Google sharing in the app, delete looks from History, and delete the app to remove everything stored on your iPhone. Because our service does not store images, messages or accounts, there is normally nothing personal to retrieve; if you want the anonymous subscription and usage records associated with your device removed sooner than the retention period, or have any question about this policy, email taimoorhassan3655@gmail.com. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local law, which we honour.

Changes

We will post changes here and, where they affect what is shared, ask for your permission again in the app.
